Frequently Asked Questions
How quickly can you schedule an inspection?
We aim to respond to enquiries promptly and schedule inspections as quickly as possible, depending on availability and urgency. Contact us to discuss your timeline.
How much does an asbestos inspection cost?
Our asbestos sampling starts at $190 + GST for the first sample and $100 + GST per additional sample collected during the same visit. Contact us for a quote on a full inspection with written report.
Should I get an inspection before renovating?
Yes, particularly if your property was built before 1990. An inspection identifies suspect materials before any work begins, so you know what you are dealing with and can plan accordingly. Disturbing asbestos-containing materials without knowing what they are creates unnecessary risk.
What types of materials may contain asbestos?
Asbestos was used in a wide range of building products in Australia up until the mid-1980s. Common materials include fibro wall and ceiling sheeting, corrugated roofing, eaves and soffits, floor tiles and their adhesive backing, pipe lagging, and some textured coatings. An inspection helps identify which materials on your property may be of concern.
Do you service residential and commercial properties?
Yes. We carry out inspections on residential homes, investment properties, commercial buildings, strata complexes and industrial sites across Sydney and surrounding NSW regions.
What happens if asbestos is found during the inspection?
We will explain the findings clearly, including the type of material, its condition and the risk level. We will discuss the options available — which may include leaving it in place with a management plan, encapsulation, or removal. Where removal is required and falls within our Class B licence scope, we can provide a removal quote.
Can you remove asbestos after the inspection?
Yes, where the material is non-friable (bonded) asbestos and falls within our Class B SafeWork NSW licence. This covers the most common materials found in homes and commercial buildings. If the material requires a Class A licence, we will advise you so you can engage the right contractor.
What is an asbestos management plan?
An asbestos management plan documents the location, condition and risk level of asbestos-containing materials in your property and outlines how they will be monitored or managed over time. It is particularly useful for commercial properties and landlords.
How long does an inspection take?
Most residential inspections take 1–2 hours. Larger commercial or industrial properties may take longer depending on the size and complexity of the site.
Once your inspection is complete and asbestos is confirmed, laboratory sample testing can confirm the fibre type — or we can move straight to arranging safe removal.
